I’m going on a 17 day Christmas Hawaiian Cruise on Holland America. Has anyone been on one of these Cruises?
This is my first cruise and I was wondering what to expect

oh you lucky cow
well i heard the water can be sort of rough so make sure you have some sea sickness pills or wear a patch.
First of all a Holland American cruise is mainly for people that wish to take it easy, do not leave the ship for excursions, like to be pampered and indulge in food and drink. Aka this is a cruise for people over 40.
Do not expect a lot of interesting things onboard for people under 30.
You best bet if you are looking for anything more than sitting around and being waited on or entertained while remaining near inactive is to go for shore excursions whenever possible. Many of these are costly, so pick the ones you would be most interested in.
Outside of that, get a book. Nothing will be terribly exciting.

holland america is a nice cruise line company. On a
a Hawaii cruise I would be out on deck seeing the scenery, listening to any lectures about the history of the islands, going to the clubs, eating in the specialty restaurant. most of all enjoying the experience and meeting people. enjoy yourself
I went on this cruise about ten years ago. I doubt if much has changed. Holland America is a five star line. You will have the most deluxe food, service, and entertainment. You will have five days at sea coming and going. When you get back it will seem like it went too fast. There is a wide variety of things to so do. The clubs are beautiful and the music terrific. I have always wanted to take this cruise again. Book some tours in Hawaii. Go to the Polynesian Cultural Center, but do not have the Luau there. It was awful. Trust me on this. Be sure to visit the USS Arizona. It is a very moving experience. You are going to have the time of your life. I’ve been on eight cruises and taken dozens of trips around the US, Canada, and Mexico. My Hawaiian cruise was the highlight of them all.
