Carnival Cruise Lines OR Royal Caribbean?

Looking to get my parents a cruise for christmas. They have been on Carnival a few times but never Royal Caribbean. I am finding better specials on RC right now and was wondering if it would be a dissapointment after only carnival before.. I would like to hear from anyone who has gone on BOTH lines if possible, I’d really appreciate your input. Thanks!

Royal Caribbean sails to some of the most popular cities and destinations across the globe. Its growing fleet of innovative, stylish ships is relaxed, elegant and upscale with a broad appeal that attracts everyone from honeymooners to families to couples celebrating golden anniversaries.
The first to install a rock wall on every ship in its fleet, Royal Caribbean International emphasizes new experiences. Each and every ship is jam-packed with fun activities, restaurants, bars and lounges, shopping, entertainment and sports and spa facilities guaranteed to make each guest’s vacation unforgettable. Kids ages 3 to 17 will enjoy Royal Caribbean’s Adventure Ocean youth program and teen facilities, which feature age-appropriate activities and amenities in a kid-friendly environment.

On land, Royal Caribbean delivers unique adventure tours and guided excursions that satisfy all types of travelers. Swim with stingrays in the Caribbean, hike through glacial waterfalls in Alaska or see the view atop the Rock of Gibraltar. If you choose, combine your cruise vacation with a land tour on a Royal Caribbean cruise tour.

Royal also has the largest ship in the world, The Oasis of the Seas, holding more then 5,000 passangers,

Go with what you want, while RC has more things to do on it’s ships its more laid back. Carnival is more of a part line.

Thanks WB for that review you obviously copied and pasted.

Royal Caribbean, I think, is for the older people. It’s more contemporary; more luxurious, but if your parents are wanting to go on excursions, R. C. is not for them. Carnival was voted “best excursions” for 5 years in a row.

Carnival is more of a party ship. If your parents enjoyed it then book them another time with Carnival. Both lines basically go to the same islands now (Carnival now goes to Aruba and Curacao).

The food on both liners taste the same – both high quality.

Your parents will NOT be disappointed with a RCCL Cruise. As a matter of fact they might not go back to Carnival.

    Good luck.

I have been on both and although I dont dislike Carnival, I think they will be pleasantly surprised by RC. I went on a Carnival cruise first and the second was on RC. I thought RC had much nicer ships, with more activities than Carnival. Although the new Carnival ship (Dream) looks pretty nice.

The crowd on RC is a little older (probably good for your parents), and its not quite the party ship that Carnival is, but I thought it was just as fun.

My take on the food is Carnival had better dining room food than RC, but RC had better buffet food. I thought Carnival’s buffet was disgusting, where RC was as good as the dining room food.

Rooms are about the same, and service was about the same. Excursions offered were about the same.

Yeah, I dont think they will be dissapointed. And if by chance they are (highly unlikely), then they (and you) will know better next time.

Carnival is crappy. It’s like staying at a old holiday inn. Royal Caribbean is like staying at a Hilton. Definitely go with Royal you will never be disappointed
